Privacy Policy

This explains what personal information Soma Laser & Skincare Clinic collects through this website, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect, and why

When you buy something

Your name, email address, phone number and delivery address, and what you ordered. We need these to take the order, deliver it, send you a receipt and answer you if something goes wrong. Your card details are never seen by this website: payments are handled on Payflex's own pages.

When you ask about a treatment

Your name, email address, phone number, the treatment you asked about and whatever you wrote. We use it to answer you.

When you make an account

Your name, email address and a password, which is stored scrambled and cannot be read back by us or by anyone else. If you save a delivery address, we keep it so you do not type it again.

When you send someone a gift card

The recipient's name, email address and your message, so we can send them the card. We use their address for that and nothing else.

While you browse

Google Analytics records which pages are visited and how people move through the site, so we can see what is useful and what is not. Google Ads records when a visit follows one of our adverts. Both use cookies. Neither tells us who you are by name, and both are declared under Consent Mode, which means they respect a browser that refuses tracking.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website leaves in your browser. This site uses three kinds:

• Ones it cannot work without. They keep you signed in and keep your basket from emptying between pages. These cannot be switched off without breaking the shop.
• Measurement. Google Analytics, as above.
• Advertising. Google Ads, as above.

Every browser can block or delete cookies. Blocking the first kind will stop the shop working; blocking the other two will not.

Who else sees your information

Only the services that are needed to run the shop, and only the part of it each one needs:

• Payflex, to take payment. They see your name, email, phone number and what you spent.
• Google (Analytics and Ads), for the measurement described above.
• Cloudflare, which sits in front of this website and filters attacks on it.
• Our email provider, to deliver the emails this site sends you.
• Our courier, when something is being delivered to you.

We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Orders and invoices are kept for as long as tax and consumer law require, which is five years. An enquiry is kept while we are dealing with it and for a reasonable period afterwards. If you close your account, we remove what we are not required to keep.

What you can ask us to do

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

• tell you what information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete what we are not obliged to keep;
• stop using it for marketing, at any time and at no cost;
• explain who we have given it to.

Email [email protected] and we will answer. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Keeping it safe

The whole site is served over an encrypted connection. Passwords are stored scrambled. Card details never reach this website. Access to order records is limited to clinic staff who need it.

Children

Some treatments are offered to teenagers. Where the person being treated is under 18, we deal with a parent or guardian, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child through this website.

If this policy changes, the new version appears here. It was last updated on 12 October 2026.
